About Ricker Lyman/Hivecell
Ricker Lyman Robotic Company, Inc. was founded in 2015 and named after its co-founders, Jeffrey Ricker and Paul Lyman. The original mission statement centered around helping customers adopt distributed frameworks like Hadoop and Kubernetes in the data center.
Eventually, these customers challenged us to run the same distributed frameworks outside the data center and data closet where the data is created. Unfortunately, traditional hardware failed to meet our needs.
Now like any great product’s story, you do not build a shiny object and find a market; rather, you find the customer’s pain points, and solve for the pain.
The pain in this case was marrying traditional hardware and distributed software at thousands of locations, as well as affording customers the ability to provision, monitor and update their edge assets. In addition, this needed to be accomplished in a way that was both logistically and economically feasible. At this point, the only logical solution was to change the game and build the solution ourselves.
As a result, Hivecell was born.
Hivecell is sold as a Platform as a Service (PaaS) just like the cloud, and provides our customers push-button compute at the source of their data. Our customers only send their business-relevant data to the cloud at a fraction of the cost of using the cloud alone.
