Hivecell Edge-as-a-Service with AWS IoT Greengrass support provides seamless integration of edge computing to the AWS infrastructure.

Hivecell, the Edge-as-a-Service company, announced today that Hivecell One is listed in the AWS Partner Device Catalog. Hivecell delivers fully-modular hardware infrastructure with a secure software layer for remote SaaS and data management. Coupled with AWS IoT Greengrass support, it will provide seamless integration of edge computing to the AWS infrastructure, enabling the deployment to hundreds or even thousands of locations with just a push of a button, even behind a firewall.

Hivecell does not require a dedicated technical crew or special racks for installation and can be provisioned through a remote web user interface. Every node provides a built-in backup battery and WiFi connection with the entire stack, so compute is not interrupted in temporary separation due to power outage. Stacking a new node on an existing stack will also automatically connect it to the network for on-demand scalability. The simplicity of Hivecell reduces up to 50 percent of the cost of installing and maintaining compute power at the edge compared to traditional cloud providers.

Since our launch of the Hivecell One, we have provided innovative solutions to our customers, advancing the mass adoption of edge computing,” said Jeffrey Ricker, co-founder, and CEO of Hivecell. “Leveraging AWS IoT Greengrass allows us to expand our reach and help AWS users realize the full potential of their IoT deployments at the edge.”

Other Hivecell features include:

  • Fully-remote deploy: Hivecell servers are sent preconfigured right to the deployment locations and don’t require tech crew or special racks for installation. They appear online and ready for assignments as soon as they are plugged into the network.
  • Baranovsky connectors: These patent-pending couplers pass AC power and ethernet to the top Hivecell node from the bottom one. They accommodate a stack with any number of nodes with just two cables per cluster, ultimately simplifying deploy and maintenance.
  • Automated orchestration: Hivecell management dashboard enables provisioning Kubernetes to remote infrastructure in just eight minutes and full monitoring down to the node level.
  • Firewall collaboration: Pull based architecture enables deploying and monitoring containers online with no additional configurations of firewall-protected locations.
